A Fading Hope Chapter 1

A Fading Hope: Chapter One: Shadows and Sunlight

Song- Beyond the Veil by Riddle TM ( No video, Sorry. It's on Itunes though- the preview won't cover this first bit, the part used in the story, but you can hear the tune, so... Anyway, bold is used.)

What lies behind you?
What secrets do you hide?
What are those voices
There on the other side?

No way of knowing
No way to talk to you unless you go
All the way through
I can still hear them
Meaningless whispering
They're here all around me.

(Chorus)
Is this what lies beyond the veil?
Is this what happens if we fail?
I'm not prepared to face this
Oh, Sirius,
Come back to me
Come back to me.

One million questions
One million mysteries
Why can't you see it?
'Cause it looks so real to me.
It's just some voices
Faceless, they seem to be right there
Calling me in.
I'll walk right through it
See what's there on the other side
It doesn't scare me.
(Chorus)

This song is a "wrock" song, that is, Wizard Rock, Harry Potter themed music. Several of the songs I've chosen to use are, actually. It's Harry, for those of you who haven't hear of it, missing his dead godfather, who fel through the veil. I thought it ft rather well because of the dreams T.K's been having,  and some things a bit later in the story. It's also first in the hidden code, which I shall now explain. Starting with this, about 3/4ths of the songs used have something in common- if you figure it out, it will reveal a sort of message about the story. It's not needed, and I will explain it on the blog later, so if you don't get it, that's fine. Also, give it time.

Story-
So we start out with a nightmare. I'd like to say here, this is not a prophetic dream. It's not, I swear. Just 'cause everyone thinks they are doesn't make it so. It's just bad memories and T.K's subconscious picking up on the " extra evil" floating around to make them particularly vivid. but the Digiworld is not sending them, and they aren't messages. I promise you.

Then we get exposition- T.K's been having dreams, Patamon points out that his life's pretty much a fantasy novel, and maybe he's having visions- it's a logical thought process.  and my goodness, this was a tiny chapter. then again, I posted it fairly quickly, within a week or so of the prologue. It was also my birthday post- my first birthday away from home, as I'd just started college, in a new state. Scary.

Anyway, that was this chapter. yay.

  1. You have a wrock song! I officially like you even more!

I'm glad that it isn't a prophetic dream (should I trust you right now? I hope you aren't lying and saying that just to get us feeling secure for a wrong reason...). That's overused, as fun as it adds to the plot. I love premonitions, but...yeah.

Something I noticed...in both this, and in A Captive Light, you include dreams as important in progressing the story (even if they aren't relevent to the events). Tai had a nightmare, Kari had a dream concerning that light entity thingy...now this. Is there anything specific that makes you include dreams? A book, perhaps, or is it your own take on events that makes dreams so important? Just curious...I both love and hate dreams in books, so I want to see someone else's point of view on the subject...

    1. I have quite a few Wrock songs planned, actually. I can't get enough of them.
And yes, you can trust me. I'm not lying, this isn't a vison of the future.

I guess I like using dreams because I tend to remember mine... even when they don't quite fit into the story, they tend to say a lot about the emotional state of the characters, what's bothering them, what's going through their heads. But Kari's *was* a prophetic dream(Ish), on account of the spirit of the digital world has been know to posses her. And there will probably be one more similar dream, induced by a similar entity.( no spoilers!)
